Detailed descriptions:
Senior Centre Without Walls
A & O is currently recruiting volunteer moderators and
facilitators for the Senior Centre Without Walls program.
The Senior Centre Without Walls program is a free
teleconference based program for older adults 55+ in
Manitoba. The goal of the program is to reduce social
isolation by providing a variety of activities that are fun,
interactive, and educational.
Volunteers are able to facilitate and moderate sessions from any location as the program operates entirely over the telephone. Volunteers are given flexibility in terms of programs and hours. The programs run between thirty minutes and one hour and are offered at various times throughout the week. Current topics include brain teasers, meditation, biographies, recipe exchange, and arm chair travels.

This Full House
To provide emotional support and assistance to older adults
who are experiencing problematic behaviours associated with Hoarding
Disorder (HD). The volunteer would work with Staff Social
Workers to provide assistance to clients in developing new skills and strategies, that will
assist clients in letting go of items.

Connect Program
A & O is currently recruiting volunteer visitors for the
Connect program. The goal of the program is to reach an
increasing number of isolated older adults in the community. Volunteers help to enhance their quality of life
and reduce feelings of loneliness and social isolation.
Volunteers are given flexibility in terms of location, the day of the week and hours available to volunteer. The minimum requirement is 1 hour every 2 weeks with a minimum commitment of 6 months. Typical visits include sharing a hobby or stories, and common interests such as a sport, vacations or careers, playing board games or cards or going for short walks or outings.

To provide emotional support to older adults who have
experienced some form of criminal victimization as well as
providing information and assistance when required.

Entry Program for Older Adult Immigrants
A & O requires culturally sensitive volunteers, who enjoy
working with older adults to facilitate conversation circles
for English as an additional language (EAL) participants.
